Adam Copeland has been announced as the Democratic Unionist Party’s new councillor for the Cusher DEA on Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
He replaces Gareth Wilson, who was co-opted to the Northern Ireland Assembly in December, following the retirement of Newry and Armagh MLA William Irwin.
Copeland said: “It is an honour to serve the people of Cusher as a DUP Councillor. I am proud to represent my local area and will work hard to deliver practical results for residents, standing up for our unionist values and strengthening our community.”
“Alongside Gareth as our MLA, we are determined to deliver the best services for those we represent, as well as being accessible to those who need assistance on the day to day issues that they face,” he added.
DUP leader Gavin Robinson said: “I am delighted to welcome Adam Copeland to the DUP team as our Councillor for Cusher. Adam is deeply committed to public service and has a clear focus on getting things done for the people of Cusher.”
Living near Markethill, he has strong roots in the local community and a deep understanding of the issues facing families, businesses and the local farming community across the area. His involvement in the Loyal Orders also reflects his commitment to culture, and community service.”

Newry and Armagh MLA Gareth Wilson said the DUP remain “the only party with representation on both the local council and in the Northern Ireland Assembly.”
