The Electoral Commission has published the financial accounts for the political parties in Northern Ireland.

Parties that reported an income and expenditure of less than £250,000 had their accounts published in July, with the remainder published on Thursday.

Sinn Féin reported the largest income of £1,095,081.00 and the largest expenditure of £1,167,466.00.

The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) reported a total income of £435,905.00 and a total expenditure of £391,765.00, they had the second largest amount reported.

In the last accounting period, Sinn Féin received the most income, with Alliance in second.

Jackie Killeen, Director of Electoral Administration and Regulation at the Electoral Commission, said: “We are committed to making sure political funding is transparent.

“Larger parties spend and receive considerable sums of money so it’s important that information on their finances is accessible to the public. Publishing their accounts allows voters to see how parties are funded and choose to spend their money.”
