Causeway Coast and Glens Councillor Ivor Wallace resigns from the DUP as ‘unhappy with recent events’

The Democratic Unionist Party's former Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Ivor Wallace, has resigned from the party stating he is 'unhappy with recent events'.

Former Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Ivor Wallace has resigned from the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), first reported by the Ballymoney Bubble.

Councillor Wallace said, “There are many reasons for my resignation, but suffice for now to say I was unhappy with recent events and where this once great party is heading”.

He will serve the remainder of his term as an independent councillor for the Ballymoney District Electoral Area (DEA).

Wallace served as the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council from 2022 until 2023, and was first elected in the 2019 local elections.

With this resignation, the DUP no longer have the most seats on the council, with Sinn Fein now matching them at 12.
