The Electoral Office for Northern Ireland has announced that Jack Gibson has been returned to fill the vacancy in the Ballymena DEA on Mid & East Antrim Borough Council.
The Alliance Party councillor has been co-opted following the resignation of John Hyland in August.
Gibson stood in the local council election in May 2023 but failed to get elected.

The Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) party has announced that Councillor Timothy Gaston has been co-opted to the Northern Ireland Assembly to replace Jim Allister, who was elected to Westminster in the general election.
Alex Easton has co-opted DUP councillor Peter Martin to replace him in the Northern Ireland Assembly, following his election as a Member of Parliament last week. Easton left the DUP in 2021, but has said he will not be rejoining.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has appointed Fleur Anderson as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Northern Ireland Office, as part of the new Labour government.
