Sinn Fein is down two points in a new poll by LucidTalk and the Belfast Telegraph, now at 26%. However, the party still has a healthy lead over the DUP, which sits on 18% – down one point from February.

Alliance are still the third most popular party on 13%, down one point. The UUP and TUV have both seen a rise in support, and sit at 12% – both up one point.

In November 2023, Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) were polling at 4%, now they are level with the Ulster Unionists, and closing in on the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).

The SDLP remain at 11%, slightly behind the Executive parties and the TUV. The Green Party and Aontu have both seen an increase of one point, on 3% and 2% respectively. People Before Profit remains at 1%. Others and independents are still at 2%.

The poll was run by LucidTalk from the 16th to 19th May 2025 and received 2,755 responses, with the sample weighted to reflect the population.

Respondents were also asked to rank the most important issues they thought that politicians and the government had to deal with.

The health service was ranked as the most important by all voters, then the cost of living, and third the economy and jobs.

Unionist voters ranked the health service as first, the economy and jobs second, then the union with the UK in third.

Common with unionists, nationalists also ranked the health service as the most important issue, then the cost of living, and finally the economy. A border poll was ranked joint fourth with education.

Those who vote for parties in the ‘other’ voting bloc (e.g. Alliance, Greens etc) ranked the health service as first, education as second and the cost of living as third.
