Sinn Féin councillor and special adviser to First Minister Michelle O’Neill, Cliódhna Nic Bhranair, has stepped down from Belfast City Council, as first reported by belfastmedia.com.
She was first elected in the 2023 local elections and represented the Collin DEA (district electoral area) in Belfast.
Replacing her is Siobhán McCallin, a retired teacher, who says it is “a huge honour to be selected to serve as the new Sinn Féin councillor for the Colin area”.
Nic Bhranair stepped down to ‘focus on her role as special adviser to the First Minister’ according to the Anderstown News.
Commenting on social media, Nic Bhranair said: “It’s been an honour and a privilege to represent the people of the Colin.”
“Siobhán will be an excellent Councillor working on behalf of the families, workers and communities of the area,” she added.
