Simon Hoare, a former Chairperson of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee (NIAC), has been announced as a new member of the Committee today.
Hoare served as Chair of the NIAC from 2019 until 2023, when he was appointed as a Junior Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
He replaces his Conservative colleague, Jerome Mayhew, who is stepping down from the Committee.
Hoare, MP for North Dorset, also chairs the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee.
Hoare said on X that he is “delighted to be returning to the Committee.”
