The Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) have restored the whip to Justin McNulty MLA after being suspended from the party for six months.
In February this year, McNulty was suspended after leaving the opening of Stormont early to attend a GAA match in has capacity as manager.
At the time, the party said: “People rightly expect their elected representatives to be there for work. We expected all members of our team to be there to support their colleagues.
“Accordingly, as Mr McNulty was not in his place, did not seek the permission for his absence and breached the direct instruction of the whip, the SDLP Chief Whip has suspended the whip with immediate effect.”
The MLA for Newry and Armagh was first elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2017.
First reported by the Irish News, an SDLP spokesperson said: “Following a review, the SDLP has restored the whip to Justin McNulty MLA subject to the standard conditions expected of all party representatives.”
“We look forward to welcoming Justin back to our team at the assembly.”
