David Clarke is co-opted to Carrick Castle seat on Mid & East Antrim Borough Council

David Clarke has been returned to fill the vacancy on Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, following the co-option of Cheryl Brownlee to the Assembly.

The Democratic Unionist Party councillor, David Clarke, has been co-opted to the Carrick Castle DEA seat on Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

The previous councillor, Cheryl Brownlee, was recently co-opted to the Northern Ireland Assembly as an MLA for East Antrim. Long-serving DUP member, David Hilditch, retired from politics for health reasons which prompted the co-option.

The appointment was confirmed by the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland on Tuesday 3 October.

“Dr David Marshall, the Chief Electoral Officer, today (3 October 2023) gave notice that David Clarke had been returned to fill the vacancy in the Carrick Castle District Electoral Area in Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.”
